Salt from the sea loved by the legendary free-diver, Jacques Mayol
Kakara island, located in Karatsu is called a paradise for fishes. It’s the perfect place to pump up minerals-rich seawater from the Tsushima Current. This island was chosen because of the desire to use only the clean and highly-transparent seawater in the middle of the sea as a raw material for distilling salt. After thoroughly passing this clean seawater through a micro-filtration membrane, it is slowly crystallized at a low temperature of 60°C.
